Shades of blue

Cathy Edwards of Another Magazine and Karen Langley of Dazed and Confused
I love this photo for many reasons: friendship, the color blue, a gorgeous print, and excellent draping. The looks on their faces tell of friendly mischief. The shades of blue of their dresses, a reason to smile- not pout. The exploded particles that decorate Karen's Peter Pilotto dress, earth-shaking. The draping and plissé of both dresses, lovely.

Style Obsessed

Melissa Ventosa Martin, Market Editor of T Magazine
As soon as I noticed her in New York, I knew she would be someone whose style I would love to follow. The confidence of her look reminds me of a personal style icon of mine. I admire the way she mixes and knowingly throws together fabric, texture and color. It's effortless.
Courage

Yesterday at Marni, I finally had the courage to lens my way through the invisible wall that surrounds Anna Wintour. What this essentially entails is breaching the two-part C.I.A. worthy security zone that surrounds her. Part A: Intimidation. Part B: Two very efficient body guards- so efficient that 20 minutes before I snapped her photo, I was tango-twirled to avoid collision when I almost backed into her while taking someone else' photo. I didn't even know what happened until I saw the back of her well coiffed head. It was all so covert, god forbid that there should be a scene. That's not Ms Wintour's style after all.
Well it all started on Saturday, when my friend Joris snapped an amazing photo of the editor-in-chief. As soon as I saw the beautiful image, an itch started assailing my skin, which only made it tougher, and consequently catapulted my courage reserve. By the next day I was totally amped with a singular focus. So with the moral company and support of my fellow blogger and friend Tatel, I broke through the wall.
I can't wait until "The September Issue" opens in Milan!!!

Backstage First

Tai Missoni

Today I had the amazing opportunity to go backstage at Missoni. It was the first time that I have been back stage since since starting All the Pretty Birds. I really had no idea what to do. So after observing the other photographers, I started clicking away. Here are the results. Hope you like them! Tamu

Flower, child of the '70s revisted in the '90s

I have been driving myself crazy looking for the perfect floral dress. This one is incredible. Soft, but not too pretty. The high neckline, bell sleeves and ruffled skirt (Hey, more ruffles, must make note) create a nice balance of style elements.
I also love her round-rimmed sunglasses. They have been popping up all summer on well-shaded faces. They are a nice alternative to the ever-present wayfarers. And I bet that Linda Farrow would have some amazing vintage ones.

Miroslava Duma, Legs Galore

Where should I start? Can she be more amazing? Yeah...she can. But anyway, each time I see her it's a jaw dropping experience. I always have to take a really deep breath and hold onto something planted securely in the ground. I would hate to fly away from the giddiness.
I have a particular affection for this look though. It's something that my best friend Angela would wear. You see Angie is a petite thing just like Miroslava. So wearing platforms is a stead-fast rule! In fact, she will wear flats, only on the rarest of occasions. I think that it's happened twice since I've known her; two occasions which left me seriously disoriented. I mean she used to wear lucite-stripper shoes before Stefano Pilati whipped up the tributes! Plus, I could totally see her in these shorts. Uh! I want these shorts!!!!! And OMG!, I knew there was something else. Angie just got the dress version of Miroslava's top. There you go. Night, night and sweet dreams, Tamu

Jen Brill, Pop Contributing Editor

I've liked Jen's style from the very first moment I laid eyes on her. Uptown chic meets downtown edge. Killer fashion instinct. She has this cool, laid-back air that invites you to check her out without the bashful urgency to look away. AND, she has the most amazing collection of shoes! Not hard to imagine from these death-stare-serious Chanel sandals. She never fails to impress me with her seasonal shoe rotation. Last fall's Manolo Blahnik silver-tip booties for Christopher Kane were incredible.

Black, silver and gold

Yesterday's rain made shooting street style impossible. The downpour, the high winds, the cold. But things were nice and warm inside the tents, with everyone hovering together to dry off and to stay warm. These two fashionistas, in particular, helped the rest of us stay warm in their black and metallic looks. Thanks guys!

Hello! I'm Back!!!!!!

And what a perfect place to start: New York Fashion Week SS 2010. I am so excited to be here, even if only for a few days. I head home to Milan on Monday. But a few days are better than nothing.
