From the street to the runway

Outside the Prada runway show.

Love to see how everyday street-style looks trickle up to runway. This classic camel and black street-style combination fits well into Phoebe Philo's Celine S/S 2010 equation. Great style!

Greta, Parkalust

I'm sure that I have mentioned this before, I am a die-hard fan of military-inspired looks. Whether it be cargo pants or tough-girl/rock/chic parkas like Greta's, I'm all over it.

Right now I am beyond obsessed with Mr & Mrs Fur's luxe version of this fashion staple. Rumor is that Kate Moss picked one up this summer in Saint-Tropez. Lust, lust, lust!

interpreting romance

It's in the weightless ruffles, the knotted-split hemline, and the ivory lace. Three different looks that breathe romance.

Maeva, A little sunshine and flowers

I flew into NYC on Thursday for my dear friend Randi's wedding (Mazel Tov!). The wedding which took place last night was magical! But what hasn't been very magical is the weather here in the city. So as I pack my jumbo suitcase and get in a little last minute shopping at Duane Reade (it's a long story- my very chic Italian mother-in-law fell in love with the drug store this summer), I leave you a little sunshine and flowers borrowed from a recent weekend in Montmartre. xo

Sarah Rutson: Waterproof

OK. Growing obsession with how style's favorites confront yucky weather conditions. Sarah's solution? Heavy Artillery: a wicked camo-fringe foulard, a studded Alexander Wang handbag, and buckle-friendly red suede Balmain booties are sure to save the day. And I'll bet the thought of those boots getting ruined in the rain never crossed her mind. Thoughts like that are for weather wimps.

Rolled Boyfriend

I'm so psyched that the rolled-boyfriend jean trend is still going strong. It's one of my favorites. So easy. Check out The Sartorialist for an amazing photo of Yasmin Sewell wearing a pair. Her Balenciaga jacket isn't so bad either.

Bag note: I also love the oversize crocodile clutch in the first image above. I saw many versions during fashion month. I love the ones done as envelopes. Need one!!!!

Francesca Burns, Hair Chameleon

I didn't recognize Francesca when I spotted her outside the Prada show. Her deeper blond hair, pulled back in a ponytail, completely threw me off. She was really patient while I stared blankly at her, trying to place her face with a signature style. I feel like she held my hand the entire time, even though no actual hand holding took place.

By the next day, she had let a little bang hang free and the fog that had gathered in my head (the extra fog, it gets pretty foggy up there) finally dissipated.

Mariacarla, Gypsy in black

I pretend not to see the Givenchy F/W 09 studded sandals. I'll sleep better that way. What's the saying? The elephant in the room? They'll just be our elephant. xx

Anna and Viviana, Waterproof

These two fashionistas come prepared! What, let the rain wash out their fashion parade? Never! A transparent umbrella saves the day! Brilliant!!!!

Vittoria Cerciello, Stella Nascente

Rising Star. I met the Flair stylist five years ago when I first moved to Milan. I remember it like it was yesterday. We were both completing the mandatory Milanese after workout routine of showering, blow-drying, and light make-up, when our gym bags bumped straps on the changing bench.
She was total sunshine in the wengesche surroundings of the changing room. A lot has changed since then, she has become one of the most sought-after young stylists in Italy. But, thankfully, some things never change: She is still the same girl that I met that day, lovely and warm as the rising sun.

Side note: Can you believe this shower thing? I rarely showered at the gym in NY. People actually keep another wardrobe at the gym and back-up supplies of bath soap and shampoo. I am serious! That's Italians for you, they'll never let a moment of elegance slip by.
