PENNYBLACK Girls and the City

PENNYBLACK2

Some of my fondest memories involve my girlfriends and I spending time together and exploring different cities around the world. So when I was invited by PENNYBLACK to participate in their Girls & the City Milan edition, I happily accepted the opportunity to share some of my favorite Milanese spots. Shot by my dear friend Tommy of Jak & Jil and with creative direction from Macs Iotti, a dear dear new friend, I walked the streets of Brera, practically my backyard, in an awesome trench coat, gorgeous sandals and chic jewelry from the Penny Black Spring/Summer 2011 collection. It was an amazing experience, and as you will see from the pics and video, the girls of Milan really know how to enjoy their city in style.

Georgia

GeorgiaF2

Gosh, where should I start in describing my admiration for Georgia? With her name? Love! Or should I gush about her amazing style? Or should I express how impressed I am with her dedication to her studies- she's currently preparing her thesis to become an architect. Or should I say how much she rocks because she also works for a major P.R. firm here in Milan. Or should I commend her courage in following her passion to become a stylist? Or should I share that she is just a really sweet girl? Lots to admire, no?

Olivia

OLIVIACARTMILLP

Do you remember Olivia (or the O.C. as I affectionately like to call her- she's from Cali and her last name starts with a C)? She's the very first person that I featured here on APB. And, as was the case back in November 2008, she's still owning her personal style. I love the way to she combines mellow-yellow with grey and black.

Micol- Young and Posh

Micol

I recently had the HUGE pleasure of meeting Micol, Editor of the personal-style blog Feed Your Style. I met up with her last week to take some pictures for Glamour's Young and Posh Network and was blown away by her incredible knack for layering and sharp eyes for accessories.

Palazzo Pants

jeanjacketpalazzo

As I was doing my on-line reading this morning, I came across a great article about Palazzo pants over at Another. I adore palazzo pants. For me they are the epitome of chic. My mother-in-law has the most amazing pair of off-white ones with black polka dots. Her friend made them for her. I'll ask her if I can borrow them for a post. You'll love them. In the meantime we can enjoy these lovely floral ones by Topshop.

Emily

FloralSkirt1

I met the lovely Emily Weiss, editor behind the gorgeous beauty blog Into the Gloss, in Paris during the SS11 collections. She was sweet enough to stop for a pic in her pretty, floral maxi-skirt. I love the way she toughens up the look with these edgy boots. Her blog explores the beauty regimens of some of fashion's most captivating insiders.

Ece

EceSukan

Love Ece's easy, seventies-inspired vibe in this pic. The tones of the look work so well together. Cheetah + camel+ cream= amaazing! Great example of casual chic.

Bag Lady

Love the contrast of the leather carry-all with that of the plastic shopping bag in these two images. Either bag, Frida is breathtaking. Now that's model style.

Dreaming of Spring tones today. Valentina Di Pinto on her way to the Missoni SS11 show.

And the front?

To see the front of Hanneli's Opening Ceremony maxi-dress, check out my first post on Glamour's Young and Posh Network! See you there! ★

Update: Glamour is currently perfecting its Young and Posh Blog, so I've decided to repost some of the images here while their maintenance is completed. I'll let you know when the blog is live. It's going to be amazing.

I fell in love with this gorgeous maxi-dress after seeing it on Hanneli during the SS11 fashion shows. I'm a huge fan of prints; I love earth tones; button-down bodice's make me smile; and the mini-slip... genius. I was so psyched to find it in stock at Opening Ceremony on a recent trip to New York. I wore it for Christmas Eve dinner, and I'll be wearing it through 2011 and beyond!

Sealed with a bow

SerafinaSama

Serafina's red and black outfit is perfection. It's chic and easy, and the Prada "bow" belt just seals the look. Such a pretty package.

Viva la passione di ADR--2011

It's no secret that Anna Dello Russo dazzled and wowed us this past year. And exactly how did she do it? Obvious question? Yes, I know. But it is was more than the countless fantabulous looks with which she graced international fashion weeks. It was her passion that really stopped other well respected editors in their tracks; that elicited compliments like, "that Anna is amazing, how she inspires me"; and that dominated conversations at aperitivos in the lobbies of fashion- friendly hotels. And it is with Anna's passion that I'd like to approach 2011. I've always considered myself a passionate person, but Anna's inexhaustible passion for la moda has inspired me to look further outside the box for hidden possibilities; and to consider how I can further push myself. Her passion also made me reconsider the meaning of the word in terms of the things that are important to me today: passion allows you to believe; to love and be loved; to be creative; to be happy; to measure your own success; to be yourself; and to define your style :-). What about you? What does passion mean to you? What is your motivation for 2011?

Grazie Anna! Viva la passione! Viva la moda!

Happy and passionate New Year! Tamu
